Q&A with Brent Poer

This month's Featured GQ Insider is Brent Poer, a loyal reader of GQ for over twenty years. He lives and works in New York City, where he is the Senior Vice-President of connectivetissue at MediaVest. When he's not working, he likes to spend his free time taking pictures with his vintage Polaroid Land Camera.

What are the last three books you've read?
Pretty much a mix bag…Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Road by Cormac McCarthy and An Inconvenient Woman by Dominick Dunne

Is there a celebrity (actor, musician, etc.) whose style you like?
I like the casual, scruffy appeal of Jake Gyllenhaal

How much do you like the style suggestions and tips in GQ?
The style suggestions and tips are fantastic. They certainly help someone pushing forty stay current.

Feist – I Feel It All

Last good movie you've seen?
Superbad. Who doesn't like a coming of age story about trying to buy booze and getting laid?

Who is your favorite fashion designer?
Tim Hamilton.

Favorite jeans?
The original – Levis.

Favorite suit maker?
Custom – I had several suit silhouettes copied and tailored while I was in China. There's nothing like it.

Favorite grooming products?
I'm a skincare junkie. Prevage for anti-aging. Olay Definity as a moisturizer and Kiehl's under eye cream. Pantene makes a great defining pomade.

Favorite fragrance?
My fragrance changes per season. In the fall & winter I wear Kiehl's Musk #1 and in the spring and summer I wear a custom blended Le Labo.

What's the next clothing item that you are thinking about purchasing?
Looking for the perfect camel hair winter coat

Place you'd most like to visit outside U.S.? Next foreign vacation?
I've been to Africa twice (Kenya, Tanzania, Zaire, Congo and South Africa). I'd like to go back for another trip to Tanzania for the migration of the Wildebeests. It's disappearing so I'd like to see it again before it's gone.

Favorite travel destination? Favorite U.S. city?
A beach vacation – any beach - is always welcome.

What's your hottest accessory?
A belt that I designed and had made at a leather shop down on 5th Street in the East Village.
